Wail Tail is a member of the Crooze family. This car itself is based on the very famous 1978 Porsche 935 race car which, due to the way the rules for Group 5 racing were worded, allowed the makers of the car to give it an extended rear end, or "whale tail," that stuck out rearwardly much more than normal. The original race car was painted white and so acquired the nickname of "Moby Dick." Due to Mattel's different spellings used for "whale tail," i.e. "wail tale," they are allowed the use of this car without licensing worries.
