Code 3[]
Why those images are NOT being posted on the gallery? Tonny6660 (talk) 23:45, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
Hello this is a great question because I dont know how to approach it, and im fine getting everyone's input. As you can see I've been posting a bunch of Code 3 cars.... well actually Larry Wood collection pieces. But these pieces are not prototype cars, but Code 3 cars that where given out in conventions.
In my opinion Code 3 cars are not legitimate variations since they are custom made, thus they are not on the "Variations" part of a page. BUT unlike custom cars, Code 3 cars are made in the masses (in thousands of qtys) and given out in HW conventions. So to me it a grey area. They technically are customs, but they are technically a variation that where released. So I figured it would be easier to make an extra spot that just shows all the "Code 3" cars for each casting, instead of the images becoming lost in the Gallery.
And honestly I sometimes get confused with the whole definition of a Code 3. Its definition seems simple and basic, but when applied, it confuses me. Ill use the 7th Annual Hot Wheels Collectors Convention page as an example. This is a convention for HW and from HW. Therefore all the cars given out where from HW. The Exclusive cars from the show are legitimate HW variations. But the Newsletter Baggie Cars are not? They are made by HW Newsletter, which HW does work with, so they are "custom" Code 3 cars? Even though the baggie cars are supervised by HW? IDK im confusing myself. But again, the Code 3 cars from the 7th Annual Hot Wheels Collectors Convention where mass produced custom given out in the show, thus I think they deserve a spot on the casting page, separated from Variations or Gallery.
To sum it up, Customs (Like the ones I made) belong in the Gallery. But Custom cars that where made for HW Shows/ Conventions (known as Code 3 cars) need their own spot. Fair?

- Indeed pretty fair, I'd say. All that being said I think this section would be better placed right above or right bellow the gallery. Tonny6660 (talk) 23:51, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
I say above Gallery so it would be under Variations. One way or the other is fine with me, as long as a section for Code 3 variation is there.
Oooo found another weird example. Was going to post a Code 3 car for Midnight Otto that came from the 3rd Annual Hot Wheels Collectors Nationals. But someone already put them in the Variations section. So are they actual variations or Code 3? Either way I think this is a good reason to make a Code 3 section on casting pages.

After looking at the suggested Drag Bus I would NOT include them anywhere on this wiki since they are not Hot Wheels. If there is an Auto World Wiki, feel free to add them to that respected wiki. But since they are basically Auto World castings in a HW livery I would not add them. Its kinda like how I work on the HW NASCAR line, the Pro Racing, but I will not include the Team Caliber versions of the #44 Hot Wheels car, even though its in a HW livery. Or the TYCO slot cars of the #44 Hot Wheels car I would not put in this wiki either. Hope that makes sense.
If you want to find a middle ground, I dont see an issue of making a link to the Auto World Drag Buses under the "See Also" spot. But other than that I wouldn't do anything else.
