The Full-Sized Silhouette

• The candy apple red, all steel-bodied Sillouhette was hand formed and built by Bill Cushenbery, starting with a modified '56 Buick frame. The car was completed by the summer of 1962, and sported a fuel injected Buick engine and wire wheels. These highlights were replaced in 1963 by a dual quad 429 Ford and slotted mag wheels. The Show Car was then purchased by Ford to tour with the ICAS events as a featured car of the Ford Custom Car Caravan.
• The complete half of the windshield in front of the integrated roll-bar is hinged at the base to tilt forward. The steering column also raises to allow for easy access into the red and white leather interior, which features a "floating" instrument panel and bucket seats.

Description

The Silhouette was one of the cars released in the 1968 Hot Wheels series, also known as the "The Sweet Sixteen". Despite its' sleek and futuristic 1960's design, it is considered the least valuable Hot Wheels car of the 1968 year because there were so many produced.

Notes: Hong Kong versions have blue tinted glass, chrome foil wheels, a two-piece interior featuring a steering wheel stuck into the dashboard, longer, but thinner side pipes, and four square placement holes in the chassis. Colors are descending in rarity from most common to most rare.
