Description
Looks pretty familiar, doesn't it? In 1976, Mattel was working on a prototype for the Mach 5 from Speed Racer. The plans fell through with the copyright holders to Speed Racer and the Mach 5, so Mattel reworked the mold and altered it just a little bit (much like they did with the Turismo) to create the Second Wind.
In later years, Mattel did get to develop a authentic Mach 5 replica that was made only for the Japan market. After that, Mattel eventually got the rights to produce a whole line of cars for the Speed Racer movie.
