Description[]

The AcceleRacers Series (2006) was initially planned to have debuted alongside four movies that continued the plot of the original AcceleRacers film series. Product releases were supposed to have spanned through 2007 and would have featured a series of 1:64 basic releases and a series of 1:24 mid-scale transformable models sharing some of the same designs. It was stated by a designer that multiple members of the Hot Wheels Team travelled to Japan for a conference with designers of the Takara Transformers series to solve issues with complexity.

Due to a combination of poor product sales of the 2005 series, marketing, and failure to keep up with competing brands, most concepts were cut from the 2006 lineup.

Basics[]

The released series featured seven subsets of models with themed liveries. Each single pack release had a ribbed blister to obscure a six digit code on base of the casting. Codes were able to be entered on the Cartoon Network website to access exclusive wallpapers and other digital movie content. Some plastic-bodied variants of this series were painted with a special anodized aluminium coat, giving them a unique metallic finish.

Action Figure Series[]

The Action Figure Series was planned to have had four assortments of 'mid-scale' action figures and vehicles with multiple variations, transforming features, and cross-compatible accessories.

Due to a combination of poor product sales of the 2005 series, marketing, and failure to keep up with competing brands, the AcceleRacers Action Figure Series was cut from the 2006 lineup.
