Since the end of the second World War, the Australian motor mndustry has thrived, producing many high-quality vehicles such as the Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore. Australian vehicles range from large sedans to coupé utilities (known there colloquially as "utes"). Holden (a General Motors brand) remains the only manufacturer still building cars in Australia, and is set to close its plants by the end of 2017 (they will continue to operate engineering and design facilities within the country, however). Ford Australia closed its plants in 2016. Other manufacturers that have built cars in the country (including many locally-designed models) include Chrysler, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Mazda, and Volkswagen. Speaking of Volkswagen, their Australian facility was one of only two factories worldwide that produced the panel version of the Volkswagen Type 3 Squareback, but the Hot Wheels car represents the LHD version produced in Germany.
