Description
The '63 Studebaker Champ' is a casting replicating the classic early '60s Light truck made by Studebaker for the North American market. The Champ's styling being among the last remnants of the 1950s, as styling was becoming more boxy as the 1960s progressed. The styling of the Champ is very typical of the era- plain and simple lines along the bodywork from the bonnet to the tail lamps, with the Champ's styling taking to the same style as the Ford F-350 and the early 1960s Chevrolet Suburban with the bonnet being atop a stylized raised area over the grille. On the Champ, the Grille is a 3-section design with 2 dash-shaped outer pieces on either side of the rectangular central grille. The Champ was the first truck to feature the sliding rear window- a feature seen on many contemporary truck designs.
The Hot Wheels casting takes the basic truck and has it lowered and fitted with a tonneau cover. This Tonneau cover is made from the same material as the interior piece and on versions with a plastic interior, a person can use their fingernail to lift it and reveal that this piece has the brackets moulded to hold the rear wheels in place.
